Project Engineer

Job Summary

Ryan Companies is hiring a Project Engineer for its Midwest team in Des Moines or Cedar Rapids. The role supports project delivery while building experience in both field and office operations, including at least six months at a construction jobsite.

Project Details

The position supports commercial construction projects and is based in Des Moines or Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Jobsite placement is expected for a minimum of six months and may continue for the duration of a project.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and track requests for information, shop drawings, and drawing updates.
• Verify field dimensions and help coordinate vendor and subcontractor deliveries.
• Learn site safety procedures, logistics, and jurisdictional inspection processes.
• Join punch-list inspections, document outstanding work, and monitor completion.
• Help prepare and update project schedules.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Knowledge of estimating, cost control, and material pricing.
• Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, and cost-coding systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to take responsibility.
• Willingness to travel and/or relocate as project needs require.
