Project Engineer

Job Summary

Tutor Perini O&G Joint Venture is hiring a Project Engineer for the Manhattan Jail Project in Manhattan, New York. The role reports to the Project Manager and supports coordination, field execution, quality, and documentation.

Project Details

The $3.8 billion project involves building a new 1,040-bed facility with service and recreation areas, staff spaces, below-grade parking, a secured entrance, and ground-floor community and commercial space.

Responsibilities

• Monitor field work, coordinate contractor deliveries, and help align construction activities with project sequencing.
• Interpret plans and specifications, resolve drawing conflicts, prepare RFIs and field changes, and maintain as-built documentation.
• Track work progress and quality, document site observations, support inspections, and propose solutions to quality issues.
• Review submittals and shop drawings, perform quantity takeoffs, and prepare reports, checklists, meeting minutes, and project records.
• Coordinate with contractors, clients, and design representatives; participate in job walks and safety inspections.
• Use Procore and support quality assurance and quality control procedures.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, plus at least five years of relevant construction experience.
• Experience with construction projects in the New York City metro area valued at $150 million or more.
• Working knowledge of blueprint reading, Prolog or similar software, and scheduling and estimating software.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, strong written and verbal communication, and ability to manage multiple assignments independently.
• CAD 2000 or 3-D CAD knowledge is desired.

Compensation and Benefits

Expected annual salary range is $96,000-$141,000, depending on experience.
