Senior Preconstruction Project Engineer

Job Summary

Ryan Companies is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Project Engineer to support estimating and preconstruction work from its Des Moines or Cedar Rapids office.

Project Details

The role supports commercial real estate projects and works with development, architectural, construction, and project management teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare conceptual and detailed estimates, quantity takeoffs, cost models, and project budgets.
• Request and evaluate subcontractor pricing, help select subcontractors, and support buyout and GMP estimates.
• Track project scope, maintain cost history, and contribute to preconstruction schedules and project pursuits.
• Review estimates and provide guidance on scope, market pricing, and available resources.

Required Experience

• Four-year degree in construction engineering or construction management.
• Understanding of construction methods, building types, procurement, and construction plans.
• Strong quantity takeoff, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Recent graduates are welcome; field or office construction experience is a plus. Internship experience and up to three or four years of construction management experience are advantageous.
• Interest in learning Destini Estimating, OST, Bluebeam, BuildingConnected, JOIN, VICO, Navisworks, and Revit.
