Superintendent/Foreman (Utilities)

Job Summary

Veit is hiring a utilities Superintendent/Foreman to oversee daily field operations and lead site personnel, keeping work aligned with safety, plans, budget, and schedule.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate workforce, equipment, crews, and subcontractors to meet project needs and schedules.
• Lead site safety activities, communicate procedures, conduct hazard-awareness meetings, and document incidents.
• Maintain daily logs, schedules, and time records; address performance matters and manage field staff.
• Participate in project planning and site meetings, inspect work and materials for quality, and support staff training.
• Respond to customer and agency inquiries and keep supervisors informed of issues affecting assignments or operations.

Required Experience

• Two to five years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
• OSHA 30-hour certification, HAZWOPER, Excavating Safety Training, Blueprint Training, CPR, and First Aid are listed; OSHA 10-hour is preferred but not required.
• Ability to read plans and specifications, use Microsoft Office and mobile devices, communicate effectively, and schedule project needs.
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle record required; must pass a pre-employment drug test and be over 18.
• Union affiliation or willingness to join the union is required.

Compensation and Benefits

Work Schedule and Environment

Workdays are typically 8 to 10 hours, with occasional weekends as needed. The role involves construction-site conditions, loud equipment, variable weather and terrain, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
