Traveling Superintendent/Foreman (Foundations)

Job Summary

Veit is hiring a traveling Superintendent/Foreman to direct foundation site operations, crews, and lead personnel while keeping work safe, on schedule, within budget, and aligned with design and quality requirements.

Project Details

The role supports foundation projects involving deep foundation systems, including piledriving, micropiles, caissons, and helical piles, with travel across the upper Midwest.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate workforce, equipment, subcontractors, schedules, and daily site needs with project leadership and crews.
• Maintain safe work practices through hazard identification, safety meetings, stretching, and toolbox talks.
• Keep daily logs, schedules, timecards, and timely records of safety incidents, injuries, or equipment damage.
• Inspect work and materials for quality, participate in project planning and site meetings, and manage field staff performance.

Required Experience

• At least five years overseeing crews installing deep foundation systems, including piledriving, micropiles, caissons, and helical piles.
• At least five years working with foundation or ground-improvement equipment such as drills, concrete pumps, and batch plants.
• Ability to oversee multiple jobs while maintaining safety, quality, and schedule standards.
• Required training and certifications include OSHA 30-hour, HAZWOPER, Excavating Safety Training, Blueprint Training, CPR, and First Aid.
• Must be able to interpret construction plans and specifications, communicate effectively, and use Microsoft Office, iPad, and iPhone.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record. Union affiliation or willingness to join is required.

Compensation and Benefits

Workdays are generally 8 to 10 hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends as needed. Hourly rates and benefits for union and prevailing-wage roles may vary by collective bargaining agreement or local requirements.
