Superintendent I and II - Civil -Large Site Earthwork Development

Job Summary

Mortenson is hiring Superintendent I and II leaders to coordinate field teams and oversee large-scale civil site development, while supporting strong customer relationships.

Project Details

Lead earthwork and dirt-moving operations on 1,000–4,000-acre site development projects. This role requires full travel and assignment to one project through completion.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate materials, equipment, inspections, schedules, logistics, and construction activities.
• Review plans and contract documents for completeness and constructability, and coordinate with design engineers and partner superintendents.
• Coach, supervise, train, and develop team members; lead meetings and oversee project partners.
• Track progress and task coding, manage performance, and support career development.
• Oversee safety, quality, risk, and compliance, and identify opportunities to improve processes.

Required Experience

• Superintendent I: at least 5 years of construction management or related experience. Superintendent II: at least 8 years.
• Industrial-scale site development earthwork experience is required; concrete-only experience is not a fit.
• Self-perform work experience is required; subcontractor management alone does not meet this requirement.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in construction, civil or architectural engineering, or construction management; alternatively, 10 years of trade experience.
• Current driver's license, ability to travel up to 100%, and experience managing complex project work through closeout.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, construction law and business practices knowledge, and effective communication and customer service skills.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay ranges are $111,400–$167,100 for Superintendent I and $130,100–$195,200 for Superintendent II, with location-based adjustments in certain markets. Compensation is based on experience and location. The role is eligible for an incentive plan and includes a travel package.
