Superintendent I and II - Civil Underground Utilities

Job Summary

Mortenson is hiring a civil underground utilities superintendent to coordinate field operations, guide project teams, and support strong customer relationships. The role is available at Superintendent I and II levels.

Project Details

Work is within Mortenson’s Civil Operating Group, focused on underground utilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate crews, contractors, materials, equipment, inspections, and work plans to support the project schedule.
• Review plans and contract documents, coordinate with design engineers, and manage schedules and site logistics.
• Coach and supervise team members and project partners, track progress, and support training and career development.
• Oversee field safety, quality, risk, and compliance while identifying improvements.

Required Experience

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction, civil or architectural engineering, or construction management; alternatively, 10 years of trade experience.
• Superintendent I requires at least 5 years of construction management or related experience; Superintendent II requires at least 8 years.
• Current driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100%.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects, interpret construction documents, and use Microsoft Office at an intermediate level.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay is $111,400–$167,100 for Superintendent I and $130,100–$195,200 for Superintendent II, with location adjustments in select markets. The role is eligible for an incentive plan.
