Superintendent I

Job Summary

Mortenson is hiring a Superintendent I to coordinate field operations and oversee assistant superintendents, trade partners, and craft teams while supporting strong customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate materials, equipment, inspections, site logistics, and project schedules, including short-term look-ahead plans.
• Review construction documents, resolve design discrepancies, and conduct orientations, planning sessions, and site meetings.
• Direct contractors, foremen, and craft crews; support hiring, performance management, mentoring, and career development.
• Monitor productivity and timekeeping, and oversee project safety, quality, risk, and compliance.
• Identify challenging work conditions and improve field processes.

Required Experience

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in a relevant construction or engineering field, or 10 years of trade experience.
• At least 5 years of construction management or related experience.
• Current driver's license and ability to travel up to 100%.
• Ability to manage complex projects, organize multiple tasks, and communicate effectively with diverse teams.
• Basic construction law and business practices knowledge, plus intermediate Microsoft Office skills.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay is $111,400-$167,100, with adjusted ranges for certain listed office locations. The role is eligible for an incentive plan.
