Assistant Safety Manager

Job Summary

Adolfson & Peterson Construction is hiring an Assistant Safety Manager for its Midwest Region, based in Minneapolis. The role supports regional and project-level safety programs and promotes an Incident and Injury Free culture.

Project Details

Safety work may cover assigned projects across AP’s commercial, education, healthcare, hospitality, industrial, multifamily, municipal, data center, and senior living markets.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain site safety programs, training, communications, and compliance practices.
• Inspect multiple project sites, identify hazards and trends, and share findings with project teams and senior management.
• Coordinate OSHA consultations, corrective actions, and safety plans for high-risk or unusual work.
• Work with project leaders, subcontractors, owners, and safety staff to support regulatory compliance.
• Investigate workplace incidents and assist with workers’ compensation and return-to-work coordination.

Required Experience

• Two-year or bachelor’s degree in industrial safety, safety management, or a related field.
• At least five years in a construction safety role and experience with government inspections and audits.
• Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency and knowledge of construction EHS regulations.
• OSHA 30 preferred; ability to obtain an OSHA 500 construction trainer card.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification; ASP certification or ability to obtain it within one year.
• Competency in excavation, trenching, fall protection, confined space, silica, scaffolding, rigging, and signaling.
• Willingness to travel and work in varying climate conditions.

Compensation and Benefits

Estimated annual pay is $78,000–$124,000. Benefits include medical, dental, vision and life insurance, HSA, 401(k), flexible spending accounts, paid time off, holidays, tuition assistance, and an employee referral bonus.
