The Weitz Company is hiring a Project Engineer I for jobsites in Cedar Rapids or Des Moines, Iowa. The role supports project planning, procurement, execution, and closeout on commercial and mission-critical construction work.

Project Details

Projects are part of the Iowa Business Unit’s commercial and mission-critical portfolio; data center experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain construction drawings, project records, logs, and documentation.
• Coordinate RFIs, submittals, inspections, compliance audits, and non-conformance tracking.
• Monitor deliveries, subcontractor changes, scopes, pricing, and change orders.
• Support schedule management and project meetings, including distributing minutes.
• Assist with punch lists, as-built drawings, project closeout, and warranty activities.

Required Experience

• At least two years of project engineering experience and an industry-related college degree.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment and a record of leading, teaching, or mentoring others.
• Strong communication, organization, prioritization, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Apple devices; Procore, Workday, JDE, and Asta experience is preferred.
• Data center experience is strongly preferred.
