Senior Superintendent I - Civil Major Site Dev or Utilities

Job Summary

Mortenson is hiring a Senior Superintendent to lead field teams and coordinate construction work on complex civil projects, including major site development and utilities.

Project Details

The role focuses on large-scale site development or utilities work, including projects involving high-volume earthmoving. Relevant experience may include solar or large industrial power projects.

Responsibilities

• Direct construction activities, assign tasks, and supervise crews across the project site.
• Coordinate materials, equipment, inspections, plans, and specifications to support project schedules.
• Develop and update project schedules, look-ahead plans, site logistics, and crew sizes.
• Work with project managers to forecast and manage labor, equipment, and materials.
• Lead preconstruction planning and site meetings; review documents for constructability.
• Coach and develop field staff, support hiring and performance decisions, and promote safe work practices.

Required Experience

• At least 15 years of construction experience and 10 years in a supervisory role.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction, civil or architectural engineering, or construction management; alternatively, 10 years of trade experience.
• Experience managing crews on major site development projects with daily earthmoving volumes of at least 20,000–30,000 cubic yards.
• Experience with solar or oversight of large industrial power projects.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, a current driver’s license, and ability to travel up to 100%.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $144,300–$216,500, with higher ranges for certain office locations. The role is eligible for an incentive plan.
